The over-all cohort size for GCSEs does fluctuate each year. Since 2009/10 pupil numbers have decreased by 6%.
“Dance is still a very popular activity for young people and in fact we saw an increase in the number of youth dance groups applying to take part in the U.Dance national festival this year. However, the trend in GCSE Dance numbers is very worrying and we are working with teachers, the Cultural Learning Alliance and the Bacc for the Future Campaign to advocate for dances’ place in school and specifically within the range of Key Stage 4 qualifications that schools offer.”
